Forest Schools
Forest Schools
Here at Healey we have been experiencing Forest School sessions for the last 10 years.
We have our own area within the school grounds and also visit the Healey Dell nature reserve on a regular basis.
At Forest school we learn new skills such as tying knots to put up shelters on a rainy day, exploring habitats of wildlife, feeding the birds and watching them, identifying plants, flowers, fungi and trees. This enables us to care for our environment and wildlife, to show empathy towards each other and to keep ourselves safe in the outdoors.
Our children especially love playing hide and seek and toasting marshmallows on a cold snowy day around the camp fire.
Our aim is to build self confidence and awareness within small groups, which enables a growth mindset to help each child develop skills needed to thrive through their primary years.
